We have always believed in seeking out the best sources for our no nonsense natural ingredients. We want to buy things from the people that make them and know about them, and we want only the purest, most un-refined organic produce.
So we’ve developed partnerships with growers and co-operatives around the world, and we buy our ingredients direct from them. The cocoa beans that go into our cocoa butter are produced by small organic farmers in Uganda – mainly families who grow cocoa, coffee and papaya. The whole beans are then cold pressed in Kenya, retaining all the precious antioxidants that are destroyed by traditional heated processing methods.
Our raw, organic unrefined shea butter is made by a women’s co-operative in Ghana. The nuts are gathered from the karite tree and processed using no chemicals or solvents. The women earn fair wages and have good working conditions, so we know our money is going to the right people. Our organic olive oil is made with love by a family business on the Greek island of Crete, who pick all the olives themselves and process them organically at a local co-operative olive press. By providing them with a secure and stable supply chain, we help to ensure the sustainability of their business and their community.
And whatever we can source locally from producers in Wales, we do, including fresh organic Welsh milk from very happy cows, and lovely wild seaweed from the Welsh sea.
